Crele Orpington
This coloring is created when you take a Partridge and add the barring gene to it. (See our color genetics page for an explanation of the barring gene.) Males have a warm gold color in the hackle, saddle and shoulders and if possible no brown or red in the cuckoo colored breast and thighs. Because of the fluffiness of the Orpington feathers the pattern is not very sharp, but makes a good picture overall. The eye color is brown-red, the beak and legs are pink white. The hens are a salmon color.
This variety throws a variation in coloring from bird to bird and generation to generation making each bird very unique. They can be bred to cuckoo or partridge for gene diversity and color.
Our breeders are directly from The Fancy Chick. Currently all of our Creles are split to Isabel Cuckoo and can produce both colors. Some of our Crele chicks will also be split to Isabel Cuckoo, however, it is impossible to tell if they carry this gene until they are bred to either another Crele that is known to be split, or to an Isabel Cuckoo.
Crele Orpington chicks are not available at this time.
